We’re a bunch of curious people who work at Jisc Netskills, based at Newcastle University. Our job is to explore and critically evaluate technology so that we can help people working in education use it more effectively.
This blog was set up to be our coffee lounge. A place for us to talk about the things we’re working on, ask questions and share stuff we find interesting. We like to think of it as an “open kitchen” where you can listen in, see what we’re up to and talk to us about it if you want to.
What to expect
Our posts will be in one of four categories. Hopefully these are fairly self-explanatory, but here’s a brief description.
- Good practice
- Highlighting things that work well (and one or two that don’t) and why. Communication, web design and technology enhanced learning.
- Walking the walk
- Our own learning journeys. Our reflections on what we are trying to learn and how we are trying to learn it.
- On the horizon
- Our take on emergent technologies, ideas and trends. Things we’re playing with. Like beta, but better.
- Netskills Uncut
- A peek behind the scenes at Netskills. Rants, musings, confessions and trivia. The sort of stuff we’d talk about over a pint.
Jisc Netskills helps individuals and organisations to make effective use of innovative technology. We research new technologies and new uses of technology, provide advice, training and staff development.
